RV Parking and Camping at Whitefish Mountain Resort - Updated in 2023

  • Unoccupied motor vehicles and RV’s may be parked (no camping) at the back of the Larch Lot for no more than seven days.
  • Overnight campers may purchase a permit to camp in the Aspen Lot (10 available spaces). Obtain permit at Lodging Check-in of Whitefish Mountain Resort, 3889 Big Mountain Rd.

Due to limited space, RV, camper and trailer parking is not allowed on Wood Run Dr

As Wood Run is now completely built out and Sunrise Ridge is close to be being fully developed, it is important for everyone's safely and enjoyment that we fully observe parking rules and regulations in our neighborhoods. Therefore we have adopted what we think are more clearly defined parking guidelines which should minimize complications, obstructions and disruptions amongst all of us.

We have formulated these policies with the residents and owners enjoyment and safety in mind. The current board has had over 35 years of combined ownership experience in Wood Run and 15+ years in Sun Rise Ridge in formulating these policies. We have walked the neighborhoods to ensure that these policies will insure emergency vehicle access. We then presented this plan to the Resort, Big Mountain Fire Department and Grizzly Security for their input and approval. They are in FULL agreement with these guidelines. This policy is in place to allow for fire and emergency vehicle access.

Please review this in detail for you and/or your guests. In addition, the resort has put up "No Public Parking" signs that align with these policies. The signs read as follows:

               Private Subdivision
               No Public Parking
               Towing Will Be Enforced

Here is a summary of the Parking Policy.

First of all there is NO on-street parking allowed overnight.  Cars parked on the street during night-time hours will be ticketed and likely towed on a second offense.

Wood Run - Currently the only approved overflow overnight parking is in the resort owned Larch lot (across from Kandahar Lodge). The only place your guests in Wood Run can park overnight (other than your own driveway) is the Larch lot.  If you have guests visiting during the day or evening hours (dinner, day hike, cocktail party), and your driveway is full, then guests are to park on the downhill side of the road in Wood Run as close to your home as practical.  This short-term parking for your visiting guests must not block any driveway access.  Any cars parked on the opposite side of the road will be ticketed with no exceptions. If you have two or more cars visiting you on a temporary basis and parked on the downhill side of the road please call Grizzly Security at 406-885-4063 or email them at
bigmountainsecurity@grizzlysecurity.com to advise them in advance.  Again, no overnight parking is allowed.  No RV's or campers are allowed to park on the roads at any time.  If you live in Wood Run and observe that cars are not parked according to this policy, call Grizzly Security. As is the case with noise complaints, Grizzly is familiar with our parking policy and trained to deal with violations. If you rent your property, it is your responsibility that your renters and your management company understand and comply with this policy.

There are three designated on-street parking areas in Wood Run available for day-time parking during the summer and fall.  These areas are not available during the ski season or during night-time hours.  See the attached map at the link above.

Sun Rise Ridge - If your driveway parking area is full, your visiting guests are allowed to park on the downhill side of the road ONLY. Again, no parking is allowed overnight. If your guests park on the uphill side of the road they will be ticketed with no exceptions.

If you are planning on having two or more cars parked by visiting guests on the downhill side of the road during the day, please contact Grizzly Security at 406-885-4063 or email them at
bigmountainsecurity@grizzlysecurity.com to advise them in advance.  If you rent your property, it is your responsibility that your renters and your management company understand and comply with this policy.
